Mugs - 2 days - Intermediate

MAKE YOUR OWN MUGS! --- This course has two appointments set 7 days apart. --- This course is perfect for you if you’ve always dreamt of making your own mugs or gifting handmade mugs to a friend. This is an intermediate course, so it’s best if you’ve tried working on the pottery wheel before. Need a refresher? Book our Pottery Wheel Introduction Class and get up to speed! --- YOU NEED 1. Short fingernails 2. Clothes that can get dusty --- WHAT YOU GET Day 1 - Pottery Wheel (3h) 1. Learn how to create mugs and pull handles on the wheel 2. Master centering clay with reliable techniques 3. Refine the shapes you envision on the pottery wheel 4. Explore wooden shaping tools for precise details 5. Learn how to create matching, stackable mugs or unique designs 6. Choose from 12 high-quality glazes to finish your mugs We charge an additional 10€ per piece to cover the cost of materials and energy for the glaze-firing. This is payed in cash or contactless in the atelier. Day 2 - Refining (3h, 7 days later) 1. Learn how to secure your piece on the wheel after curing 2. Trimm away all excess clay clay to make your form a functional piece of art 3. Learn how to refine the overall shape of your objects to fit your vision 4. Finish the foot of your vessel to make it stand securely 5. Add your own signature or engraved message to your pieces 6. You’ll be able to join a more advanced class after this introduction YOUR CHOICE At the end of the class, You can choose from a variety of high-quality, dishwasher-safe glazes to give your creation a perfect finish - 6 solid color glazes, 10€ per piece - 6 dual-tone effect glazes, 12€ per piece Our teachers will do the glazing for you. The additional fee for glazing is to cover the cost of materials and energy for the glaze-firing. This is payed in cash or contactless at the atelier. --- WHAT HAPPENS NEXT Your mugs will go through: 1. A 900°C bisque firing 2. A 1240°C glaze firing After 4 weeks, you’ll be notified when your pieces are ready for pickup. By this time, your creations will have transformed into stoneware with a durable, high-quality finish, dishwasher-safe and built to last a lifetime. Can’t pick them up in person?
